The sculpting crew is looking forward to tomorrow which will be the final day of sculpting in the main room of the Under Hill Suite of the Hazelnut Inn. One small section of ceiling remains to be finished along with a few areas of wall plaster which will be much quicker to accomplish. It has been a very long haul to weld the armature, apply the detailed and complex lath and then hand sculpt every square inch of the room! Next week the painting will commence! Stay tuned…
First section done.
The first corner of the UnderHill Suite is now fully sculpted and it is looking fabulous! There’s an abundance of textures and shapes which makes it quite unlike anything I’ve previously experienced. The shapes are all very organic and flowing which is very pleasing. Even though I know it was all sculpted in one piece, the giant rocks suspended overhead in the dirt banks feel precarious. I can hardly wait to see the paint begin to go on and se it all come to life. Stay tuned…
Imaginary places
While we work hard finishing off the Hazelnut Inn and some big customer projects in the shop, we are also busy in the studio designing and planning projects we will start in the future. We have ten projects in the design stage that will stretch out over the next five years. Most of these long-term projects are large and complex, involving many other professionals, and demand more detailed concepts than is our norm. It is both challenging and fun to wrap my head around all the pieces of these currently imaginary places. It is going to be even more fun to make them a reality. Stay tuned…
