I’ve long believed every grampa should have an electric train to share with their grandchildren. Mine just happens to be a little larger than most. Our railroad is called the Persnickety & Doodle Railroad, named after Janis & myself. I’m always doodling of course, while Janis is known to keep a watchful eye on details. The track will eventually circle our small acreage. For now the tracks are about 200 feet long.
The engine will be electrically powered, with realistic sound effects added in electronically. Progress on the train is somewhat haphazard, depending on available time and funds of course. It was fabricated largely in our shop from leftover bits and pieces and is coming along nicely. The little engine sports Phoebe’s name of course.
While we wait for the real motive power the very short line railroad still gets some use. Phoebe and I will jump on one of the cars and go for a joyride on occasion... back and forth on the track already in place. With her active imagination these trips can be quite exciting... most often a rail safari to Africa. The purpose of our journey is to spot animals, mostly imagined.
Phoebe and I anxiously await for the day we will get to make a journey around the entire loop of track... sometime soon in Yarrow.
