My five year old grand daughter Phoebe absolutely loves to help her grampa in the shop. She’s wanted to paint for weeks, but each time I’ve had to put her off because she is dressed in good clothes. Today she was here for the duration and wore her painting clothes too!
She had a long list of projects of her own and they kept her busy for much of the morning. But she kept eyeing the signs I was working on. They looked like a lot more fun than hers. She started begging to help me actually put paint on my signs. I kept putting her off until I had just the project I knew she could handle. As I started painting this sign I finally gave in. We agreed that since she was a little shorter than I that she should paint the bottom while I worked on the upper portions of the sign. She did a great job too.
I call it my Tom Sawyer approach to painting signs (in hard to reach places). It works every single time. :)
