WELCOME HOME

peter

I’m a lucky man. I get to work with family close by each day. Janis has been my business partner and partner in life for  more than 36 years. Rebecca, our daughter works for us on a daily basis, here in the shop in the off season and up at Giggle Ridge (our adventure golf) during the summer. Our son-in-law Phoenix, (Bec’s husband) worked for us for many years and now has a similar business specializing in residential theme work. He also helps me out from time to time when I need realistic rock work. He has one such project underway now out in our driveway so he’s been around a lot lately. Phoebe (our grand daughter) of course is around a lot. Her playhouse lives in my shop and even though she is only five she loves to use all my tools.

Our son Peter worked with us for about 14 years. Awesomely talented, he can do anything he puts his mind to. He went on to be an animator about a decade ago and did well. After getting his fill of animating he decided his passion was to work with teen age kids. To pursue this passion he decided to go back to university and become a high school mathematics teacher. It seems there is a shortage of math teachers and so he decided to become one to have the best shot at working with kids in high school. Peter is in his third year of university and at the top of his class of course. He is on a break this coming week and came home to visit and earn a little money. I happily welcomed him back into the shop. He came in this morning and it was like the ten years of his absence never happened. I had forgotten how well he works - understands what I need. Our day was filled with laughter as we worked together. The tasks Peter did were new to him for much of what we do now has changed since he was around. But he picked up the tools and with only a vague instruction he was off and running.

Having Peter back, if only for a week will be fun. I’ll enjoy it, just as I enjoy working with Janis, Rebecca, Phoenix, and Phoebe. They are my beloved family, the people I love. I wish the best for each of them.  I am a man who believes in dreams and chasing them - no matter how far or how hard they are to achieve. At the end of the week Peter will be off again pursuing his dream as each of my family chases theirs. I wish them all well whether they are here with me or off on a great adventure.
