In the last few days of our Christmas break I managed to sneak a few more shop hours on the 1910 Overland hotrod body. It is now substantially complete. I fabricated an oval gas tank (over a store bought aluminum one). I also finished forming and welding up the small sloping turtle deck behind the seat. Trunk space is definitely at a premium in this car but I am very pleased with the body lines of the little speedster. The numerous rivets definitely add a whole lot of interesting detail and make the car very different from anything else out there. A last minute idea was to cut and weld an Overland logo onto the rear panel of the gas tank. It matches the one on the front grill and is a pretty little detail which discretely busies up an otherwise plain surface. The additional name plate will also help answer that inevitable question - ‘What kind of car is it?’
