The lettering on the drum edges will be subtle but still works great. In sunlight they will read easily as they rely on shadows to make the letters pop. Once the Corten steel acquires its rust patina the letters will stand out better as well. To accomplish this lettering we cut them into a sheet of 10 gauge steel and then backed it up with another 10 gauge sheet. Every whitish spot is a large spot weld on the backside through a half inch hole in the back plate. These holes are carefully placed so they hold the two pieces together without touching the lettering. The inside pieces of the letters are welded on from the rear, one piece at a time after lining them up by eye. Now that we have these panels complete we can start assembling the drum.
