Every single element of this project is large and much more complex than it appears at first glance. A large drumstick will ‘lean’ up against the face of the drum. Both sides of the drumstick (like the drum) have engraved lettering. I am told the lettering translates to ‘Welcome to our land.’ The drumstick, which tapers both in width and depth from end to end will be almost fifteen feet long. It is welded up from 3/16” steel plate so it is plenty strong, and will not need any internal structure. Towards the bottom there will be three notches ‘carved’ into both faces for decoration. There will be just over eighty feet of weld in this piece by itself. In the photograph you can see work is well underway on the drum in the background. We are currently working on all of the heavy duty, internal, hidden structure and five hard points for mounting the drum in its final upright position. The project is coming together nicely.
