People often tell me that they can’t draw a straight line. I wonder why they would want to. It’s a well known fact that we aren’t fans of straight lines or level at our house. I’ve enjoyed a career of more than fifty years making wiggly lines in all that I do. Things are no different at the Hazelnut Inn. While the underlying structure of the building is as plumb and straight as possible, the finished surfaces are anything but level or straight. Stonework and bricks are the most fun to create as the undulating curves are rendered. The bent bricks are hand sculpted to flow exquisitely as needed. Once painted realistically, the bricks will stump those who observe, wondering how we got bricks to do those wonderful things.
