Dragon door complete.

With the giant drum out of the shop we now have room to begin work again on some other projects that have been languishing on the sidelines. The first is the dragon door for the Copper Crown garden at the Hazelnut Inn. Yesterday I finished welding the sides on the back of the door. Peter and I fipped it and then inserted the wooden tongue and groove boards. We then struggled to lift the crazy heavy dragon panel on top and managed to do it without scratching up the finished wooden boards. Did I mention it was HEAVY! This morning Grant and I welded around the entire edge and sanded everything perfectly smooth to finish off the door at long last. Tomorrow, the plan is to build a heavy duty door frame and then weld on some equally sturdy hinges. If there’s time we may try to install the door or it may have to wait until Monday. Stay tuned…
