When we paint our projects we always start out with a much brighter and lighter shade of colour than the final result. In the case of the Rowdy Raven sign I started with a couple of coats of a beautiful and bright metallic blue. Tomorrow I’ll apply an almost black glaze over this and then judiciously wipe it off in critical areas to let the blue underpainting shine through - just a little. The result will be far more appealing than a plain black bird. The individual feathers will read perfectly and the bird will come alive. Stay tuned…
