After many years of packing semi trailers and shipping containers with our features and signs we are getting efficient at the task. The pieces are bolted to the custom shipping frames as we build them. These frames have removable, swivel, dolly wheels to make the job of moving them around the shop and yard easy. The wheels simply drop off when we lift the frame with the fork lift. And the frames slide into the truck with an inch to spare on each side meaning no tie downs or blocking is required in transit. It is a great system. We’ve built a sectional push frame which fits on the front of the forklift to ease each pallet of signs and features to the front of the trailer before loading the next. When the load arrives at the destination the pallets are pulled from the truck lifted down to the ground and then the pieces are unbolted for individual installation. We loaded the Vala’s project pieces in less than an hour this morning and sent them down the road. I’ll fly down to Nebraska on Sunday to arrive before the truck does on Monday and then supervise the unload and installation. Then it will be time to begin deciding which of the new designs will be next year’s projects. Stay tuned for updates from Nebraska next week…
