It is a whole lot of fun to dream up ideas for the pumpkin farm we are currently working on. One of the restaurants they are planning will be themed to tractors. It of course needs a landmark sign out front. I thought about the farm and some of the enormous pumpkins they grow. My mind got to wondering what sort of specialized machinery they would need to bring these monsters from the field without damaging them. We came up with this sling device. The tractor would carefully drive out into the field, over the pumpkins. The farmer, with a couple of helpers, would then roll the pumpkin onto a heavy duty tarp, hook up the corners and winch it off the ground for transport. While the idea may not be the most practical solution it will make a memorable sign without a doubt.
