Six miles of steel

Once the concepts, planning and estimating are finished and a contract is signed it is time to get down to the physical work of actually building more fanciful creations. The first order business is to estimate and place the order for the steel which we will use for the armatures. With two large projects beginning at the same time this purchase was sizeable. We squeezed the delivery between two snow storms and so there was little room to sort it then. It was parked in front of the shop doors temporarily. The steel weighed in at a hefty thirty-one thousand pounds and filled a fifty-two foot long flat deck semi trailer. We now have more than six lineal miles of steel to cut, form and weld into place. The New Year will be busy!
