Jade roof

It was a challenging concrete day in a series of challenging concrete days. The piece we tackled wasn’t overly large but there was a lot of detail inside and out. Troweling the concrete to the underside of the curved, double vault of the roof was a challenge (as always). Sculpting over one’s head is always fun as well. By the time we got to sculpting the jade shingles, the concrete was kicking pretty good as the temperature in the shop topped 35 Celsius (95 Fahrenheit) We worked up a sweat getting it done before it turned rock hard. Tomorrow we’ll sculpt the last bits to ready this roof for paint. Stay tuned…
