High temperatures makes concrete set much faster than when it is cool. To compensate for this challenge we take small batches from the mixer and apply it before fetching more. We also start sculpting much sooner and make sure we don’t hate any time. Today’s task was to sculpt the bark on the vines that wrap around the arch. Matt applied the mud today and I chased him with the carving tools. With the heat kicking the concrete we had the long winding vines sculpted by early afternoon. We’ll do a few more details with sculpting epoxy to make the feature ready for paint next week. Stay tuned…
