We’ve had a whole lot of practice loading our large creations into transport trucks through the years. Each time we learn something new and get better. As we fabricate the pieces they are mounted to large custom made steel pallets that are designed to just slip into the trucks with about an inch to spare on each side. We weld small pockets into each frame that accept heavy duty swivel wheels to make it easy to move the features in the shop and out into the parking lot. When we lift the pieces to stuff them into the truck the wheels fall off (as planned). We gingerly set one end of the pallet into the trailer and then balance it on a heavy duty welded steel saw horse. We can then swing the forklift around to the end and slide it in. We have a custom four piece pushing rig that allows us to shove the pieces to the front of the trailer. If a piece is too heavy we pull out the tractor and tandem up with the forklift to push a little harder. It works every time. There were four large pallets this time and they fit perfectly with two inches to spare when we were done. The next time I see these pieces on Tuesday morning, they will be in Nebraska. Stay tuned…
