The painters create magic daily by making sculpted concrete into weathered wood, ancient stone and cracked plaster. This giant wall section was pulled from the shop today as soon as the crew completed their work. There are still a bunch more in progress which we will have ready for transport to NEB’s Fun World in Oshawa, Ontario by the middle of May. Stay tuned for much more…
Bye, bye blue roof
The painting crew made great progress on the sculpted entry facade pieces for NEB’s Fun World. The blue roof and the wall section behind it are now complete. They will be moved out of the shop tomorrow. That move will create a lot of empty space in the shop but won’t be vacant long for two other large pieces bound for Kraay’s Family Farm in Alberta will instantly take their place. Stay tuned…
FInal piece for NEB's
The final piece of the NEB’s Fun World facade to be sculpted is the little tree that will sprout off the bottom of the castle tower. Like most of our creations, the tree is built from a sturdy welded steel frame. Pencil rod is formed for the final shape and this armature is covered with galvanized diamond lath. The branches are fabricated from various-sized steel tubing with the tips being 1/4” inside diameter to allow the foliage to be glued into place. The tree foliage will be harvested from an artificial Christmas tree and then judiciously trimmed and shaped to look like the wild tree we are modelling.
