PRIMED RIB

primed rib.

While I love a tasty prime rib I speak of PRIMED RIB in this post. We cut thirty-eight pieces of MDF with the CNC router to make the bottom halves of the ribs for the nautical theme room we are creating. I quickly found out just how fast our MultiCam CNC router can work when it is simply cutting pieces. I had dreams of assembling the pieces as they came off the machine. The reality was I spent most of my time dragging the heavy sheets of 3/4” MDF to the feed the hungry machine. Happily the CNC cut everything flawlessly so all the pieces fit together perfectly.

I added the texture to the edges by hand and then applied a texture coat of primer to ready things for paint. The ‘cast steel’ beams already look massive and heavy. This room is going to be magic when it is done. As I do my work I am constantly thinking up new ideas to add even more detail to the project. This is going to be fun from beginning to the very end...
