We’ve been experiencing a heat wave locally. And I’ve made it doubly so as I suit up in long sleeves, heavy gloves and a welding hat to protect me as I weld. In spite of the heat I’ve been having a blast! The metal work on the tow truck is almost done. And it’s starting to look a lot like a tow truck too.
Yesterday I was shopping for parts and went to my local welding supply to look for the various bits. One key item was a giant hook for the rear as in the concept drawing. In the front window of the shop was the biggest hook I had ever seen. I asked for it and the fellow behind the counter told me the story of how it came to be there - more than 40 years previous when his dad had owned the shop and he was just a kid. Because I asked for it he gave it to me FREE. He wanted it to go to a good home and he thought this was a great use for it. :)
Tomorrow I’ll start in on the pencil rod armature for the front fenders, hood and doors and then we’ll start in on the sculpt to make it look real.
