Missing link

I’ve been ignoring the little hot rod lately as we’ve been spending our recent spare time sprucing up the yard. With the fabrication of the car now largely complete I was down to the little things prior to starting it up for the first time. One of those critical little things still needed was the driveshaft. Since I replaced the rear end and changed the motor position, the old driveshaft no longer fit. For specialty and precision jobs like this we go to our local friends at M&H Machinery who do this kind of work regularly. Today, I got the call that the new driveshaft was fabricated. It measures only twenty-two and a quarter inches long. It has shiny new universal joints and was balanced so it should work perfectly. It fit nicely too. It took longer to jack the car up and place it on the jack stands than to do the installation. Now we are down to bleeding the brakes and installing the wiring before we fire it up and take it for a test spin down the driveway… Stay tuned…
