We truly appreciate the kind words of concern and encouragement we have received from far and wide. We are warm and dry and in no danger. The good news is that the flood situation in our area is beginning to stabilize. A large pumping station which is four or five miles distant was at high risk last night which was the primary cause for concern, aside from the serious flooding towards Abbotsford. Had those large pumps failed things could have gotten much worse in a hurry. The Yarrow area and all of the Sumas Prairie to the west is still under evacuation order as a safety precaution. The weather for the next four or five days is favourable and we hear the local rivers are starting to recede. Roads in all directions to and from Chilliwack remain closed due to flooding and slides. Our thoughts go to those around us who have been impacted in a major way. Our hope is that the evacuation order for Yarrow may be lifted in the next day or so so our neighbours and friends can get back to normal.
