I was running some errands in town this afternoon and during my drive I was listening to the news. It wasn’t very long before I felt I needed a serious antidote and the best medicine I know is to think about all of the good things that happen in my life on a regular basis. Personally, these good things are immeasurable, starting with family and friends. I am very fortunate and blessed in every way I can think of and I am truly grateful. Since this is a business blog I had to think about that part of my life too. I didn’t have to look far. As I watched the sun set on the beautiful mountains behind the shop I thought about the place we get to work each day. Our business is no different than most. It started in a spare room of our house, eventually moving to the garage as the projects became bigger and more complex. It was literally decades before we had the moxie to consider building a proper shop and then another decade before it actually came to be. It took another decade after that to properly equip the shop with all the the wonderful tools we get to play with these days. And while it took a lot of hard work I am very grateful we had the opportunity to make it happen. As I began to really concentrate on the good things in my life my anxiety lessened. While I have to acknowledge that the last couple of years have been challenging in many ways, I also have to be truly thankful for how good things really are.
