Maritime memory

A couple of years ago we were asked to do up a concept and submit a bid for a unique project. A small, maritime community in eastern Canada needed a good sized landmark to be placed a fork in the road in the centre of the town. The specifications were lengthy but boiled down to ‘a visual celebration of their shipbuilding history’. The brief asked that the design be photo worthy and truly memorable. The available space wasn’t large and the budget was definitely tight but it was a challenge we simply couldn’t resist. We dreamed up this little beauty, with the town’s name plasma cut into the sturdy steel wave support structure at the bottom. We never heard from them again after we submitted our concept and so we don’t know if they appreciated our idea but it would have been fun to build!
